The latest released iOS 5.1 Beta firmware has leaked many references to the upcoming Apple in line products. The traces were found for next gen iPhone i.e. iPhone 5, iPad 2,4, iPad 3 and Apple TV 3 traces in the SDK of iOS 5.1 beta. Lets see the finding one by one.
iPhone 5:
The document contains code string for next gen iPhone, which is dubbed as iPhone 5,1 which is probable model number for iPhone 5, internally. Earlier models were also internally found with similar representation as product numbers as follows.
iPhone1,1 - Original iPhone
iPhone1,2 - iPhone 3G
iPhone2,1 - iPhone 3GS
iPhone3,1 - iPhone 4
iPhone4,1 - iPhone 4S
For minor enhancements product number iPhone 4,x will be used as per Apple earlier analogies but iPhone 5,1 indicates that Apple is working on a major change in the product, probably a brand new processor, which is anticipated to be A6. Yesterday, there was already news of Sony and Hitachi supplying 4 inch LCD screen for upcoming Apple devices. Hopefully, iPhone 5 will be carrying a larger screen and also aluminum casing.
iPad 3 & iPad 4,2:
In the iOS 5.1 beta SDK a new product id iPad 2,4 and iPad 3,3 has been discovered suggesting a variant of iPad 2 and the next version of iPad. It is expected that Apple is working on to incorporate some minor changes to the current iPad 2 line which could be adding Sprint as a supporting carrier which is indicated by iPad 2, 4 model number. The current variants of iPad 2 had their product name coding as follows
iPad2,1 - Wi-Fi iPad
iPad2,2 - AT&T iPad 2
iPad2,3 - Verizon iPad 2
iPad 3 is already rumored to launch by march 2012. With these two new models iPad seems to be have two new products in the current pipeline.
Apple TV 3:
The new Apple TV(3,1) code name J33 is spotted in the iOS 5.1 beta SDK which was initially discovered by iH8Sn0w. The new Apple TV is rumored to have A5 dual core processor that Apple is already using in iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Additionally, it could also focus on cloud-based services.
iOS 5.1 beta release have brought the next major products in line of Apple that will be released in 2012. It is anticipated that in Spring 2012 we will see Pad 3 and Apple TV 3 and summer / fall 2012 will bring iPhone 5.
