Developers have extended iPhone 4S Siri capabilities further to control third party apps and connecting to Apple servers using proxy server and also control your car using Siri voice commands to start, stop, lock and unlock the car. Check the demo video’s after a break!
Developer Brandon, managed to hook up Siri in his car viper system with the help of Siriproxy plugin. He has released a video of his work and explains the details in his words:
The “Siri Proxy” plugin I wrote handles interaction with a php script that runs on my web server. The php script, which I developed months ago for personal use, allows me to send commands to my car which has a Viper SmartStart module installed.
Current commands accepted are: “Vehicle Arm”, “Vehicle Disarm”, “Vehicle Start”, “Vehicle Stop”, “Vehicle Pop Trunk”, and “Vehicle Panic”.
Alongside, another video was released showing controlling a PDF application using Siri. This hack also requires Siriproxy as a medium to use third party apps.
FastPdfKit Reader is manipulated by various commands with SiriProxy acting in the middle. A plugin is used to add new commands to the ones recognized by Siri, and finally, the proxy then sends the final commands to the app
The Siriproxy was developed last week by hacker Plamoni, which can be used to control non-Apple devices. This proxy server stands in between iPhone 4S and Apple servers and intercepts Siri voice commands. The proxy also allows adding commands to Siri.
